If the class you’re taking is accredited through the state, a
state-approved instructor teaches it. Alaska has formal regulations for
these instructors, requiring them to meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 25 years old and hold a license for at least two
years
- Have no traffic violations over the last two years
- Have no suspensions or convictions for reckless driving over the
last five years
- Renew their license once a year, taking routine continuing
education classes
- Pass written driving and teaching tests
- Complete at least 40 hours of college-level driving or teaching
work
