In Alaska, you must adhere to national laws regarding drinking and
driving. You can be charged in an Alaska DWI even if you don’t feel
drunk. Everything is tested chemically, through blood, breath, or
urine. The amount of alcohol or other controlled substance in your body
is called BAC. If you have more than 0.08% alcohol in your blood,
you’re legally drunk, even if you don’t feel that way. In Alaska, there
are additional penalties if you have a high BAC of 0.16% or more, and
even harsher penalties if you BAC exceeds 0.24%. This state also had a
zero tolerance policy for anyone underage – you cannot have any alcohol
in your system if your get behind the wheel and are under 21.
