In 2006 in Alaska, there were 73 traffic fatalities. Of those 73, 23
of them (31%) were alcohol related and 20 of them (27%) were due to
drivers with a BAC over the legal limit. This is down from 2005, but is
still high. Nationally, there are fewer DUIs and drunk driving
fatalities on average, but it is also important to remember that fewer
people drive year-round.
