Alaska citations are typically given when a driver is clocked using
a radar device. Radar guns measure you speed over a distance. Although
radar guns have been shown to be inaccurate in the past, this is still
the most highly used form of speed detection in the United States. An
officer can also issue an Alaska speeding ticket, though, if they
subjectively believe you are going too fast for the conditions – in
this case it will be a reckless driving ticket, but a straight speeding
ticket.
